PRESS RELEASE
Wilma Wayson,
BSN, has been promoted to Director of Hospice for the three regional hospice
agencies of Assured Home Health & Hospice. In making the announcement
Richard D. Block, President, commented, “Wilma helped to develop Assured’s hospice
program in the early nineties and nourished its growth and support to the
community for the next decade. In fact, due to her unselfish dedication to the principles
of hospice, her love of Assured and her desire to see Assureds model of sharing
spread, she has also been appointed to the position of Vice President of
Assured. She is the first Vice President in the company’s history and it is
fitting that she now is the model for those that will follow her.”
Wilma’s history with hospice
began in 1988. She held positions with the Visiting Nurse Association in Los Angeles and as Clinical Director of Hospice for
Swedish Home Health and Hospice in Seattle.
Before coming to Hospice, Wilma was a RN for, as she says,
more years then she cares to remember. Her nursing career spanned working at
hospitals in several states. But for Wilma, hospice was her calling. She has worked tirelessly to be sure the
community understands the Hospice philosophy and the individual’s rights to
access and choice in the Medicare/Medicaid Hospice benefit.
Wilma demonstrated her bone deep belief in Assured’s mission
by moving to Sequim to give Assured’s newest agency serving Clallam and Jefferson Counties. With offices in Forks, Sequim
and Port Hadlock, she has driven thousands of rural miles to help patients,
their families and the senior service organizations to understand the Medicare
hospice benefit, which until Assured arrived was not available. Assured Hospice
of Clallam & Jefferson Counties has made a difference in hundreds of lives
after only two years of operations, thanks to Wilma’s devotion.
Now she is moving back to direct
operations from Centralia.
She will continue her dream of growing Assured through spreading the message of
hospice’s mission in all the areas served by Assured Hospice.
